Light Art Residency - Rottal Spring 2027
In the northernmost region of Austria, surrounded by forests, rivers, lakes, and protected natural areas, lies the Rottaler Zollhäuser, a historic ensemble of former customs houses set within the rural landscape of Lower Austria, close to the Czech border.
The location offers a quiet environment for artistic and scientific research, experimentation, and exchange. In May 2027, the Rottaler Zollhäuser will host its first international Artist-in-Residence programme, supported by Culture Moves Europe. The residency aims to establish a laboratory for artistic experimentation at the intersection of light, media, and nature. The programme brings together a small group of emerging international artists to collaborate on a site-specific artwork developed in dialogue with the surrounding landscape and natural environment. The resulting work may be presented at the 10th anniversary edition of the Blockheide Leuchtet festival in August 2027.

Lichtkunstresidenz – Rottal Frühjahr 2027
Im nördlichsten Teil Österreichs, umgeben von Wäldern, Flüssen, Seen und geschützten Naturräumen, liegt das Rottaler Zollhäuser – ein historisches Ensemble ehemaliger Zollhäuser in der ländlichen Landschaft Niederösterreichs, nahe der tschechischen Grenze.
Der Ort bietet eine ruhige Umgebung für künstlerische und wissenschaftliche Forschung, Experimentieren und Austausch. Im Mai 2027 werden die Rottaler Zollhäuser mit Unterstützung von Culture Moves Europe ihr erstes internationales Artist-in-Residence-Programm ausrichten. Die Residency versteht sich als Labor für künstlerische Experimente an der Schnittstelle von Licht, Medien und Natur. Das Programm bringt eine kleine Gruppe aufstrebender internationaler Künstler:innen zusammen, die gemeinsam ein ortsspezifisches Kunstwerk entwickeln, das im Dialog mit der umgebenden Landschaft und der natürlichen Umgebung entsteht. Das entstandene Werk könnte im August 2027 im Rahmen der 10. Ausgabe des Festivals Blockheide Leuchtet präsentiert werden.
